| Hi people, I'm back! It is nice to read some of the "senior" OCFers blogs. It has been a while since I can find the time to read blogs. Blogs are actually a pretty good tool to get in touch with what is happening in each others' lives. From Lily's OX's balls experience to Sam Goh's a-hem.......Well, life's like that. We learn from experience. I cannot believe my last entry was actually on October 2006. It is almost 2 years since I write something on xanga. So many things has happened and it is almost impossible to pen it all here. Friends that I've made, experience that I've gained, countries I've traveled, etc. It was a mixture of both pleasant and bitter memories.
BBQ at Sam's house in 2004
Keith looks a little prosperous in this picture. Lily looks as if she is being squashed by Keith and my right arm seems to be at a very wrong place.
For the past 3 and half years, I've worked in Hewlett Packard as a computer salesman, United Overseas Bank (KL) as corporate banker and I have been working for my so-called family business for the past 15 months now. Working in UOB is by far the toughest. It is most kiasu bank ever. But it is also where I learnt most. I get to handle all types of business accounts and study their financial fitness then decide on the size of their loans. Visiting factories, construction sites, etc was quite an interesting experience. At the same time, I also have mountain of targets to achieve. Strange on how I can ended up with a finance job considering I majored in marketing and IT in Auckland Uni. Hm.....I miss those uni days. I learnt that technical skills can be acquired or bought within a short time but attitude, character, personality takes time to build.
Having to work for my family for the past 15 months, I have the privilege to fly more than 100,000 miles and more than 90,000 miles is with Singapore Airlines or rather Star Alliance affiliated airlines such as Lufthansa. I love Singapore Airlines and the stewardess. Everything is so perfect from in-flight entertainment to in-flight meals. The most valauble service on a SIA flight is the hot napkin they give before taking off. SIA uses the cotton cloth type instead of the perfume-filled disposable napkin. MAS used to use the cotton cloth napkin but then they switched to the disposable napkin due to costing cutting. Likewise, I also cut MAS's marks aka points. Some things you just can't compromise. The customers' comfort is at stake.
I am so looking forward to take the A380 to Sydney. I shall update my blog with my travelog from time to time. My next trip is to Singapore GrandPrix~! Thanks to Borouge for all expenses paid trip. But what the heck, they make so much money from us already. Tsk tsk......
Long live Singapore Airlines!
I find it is very different from working as an employee in comparison to being an employer or rather as a manager. Leading people is a very interesting experience and the mistakes I've made have been valuable. I have learnt a lot for the past 15 months. From manufacturing operation, product knowledge, technical knowledge, leadership skills, evaluating a person's behaviour/attitude/character from the way they talk and present themselves, etc. To me, the most important area that one needs to build is in the area of leadership. Be it an employee, manager, CG leader, pastor, etc. Thus, I strongly recommend this book to everyone.
Only RM30. Strongly recommend this book
I have recently joined the Million Leaders Mandate (MLM), a programme which is designed by Dr. John Maxwell via his company - EQUIP. Not sure if there's such thing in NZ or Singapore. But reading the book above will be a good start!
I'm going to bed now. Stay tune for more updates!

| Spectacles
I got bored at work today. So I started to play with my specs by
putting it on and off. It actually makes a lot of difference between
wearing and not wearing specs at work. And I think I need a clearer
image. I might have to replace the lens (I only own for like 2 months).
Specs is really an amazing invention.
Looks like UOB is not getting me a LCD monitor. Since the CRT monitor
is doing a lot of damage to my eyes, I might just buy a LCD myself and
bring it to work.
Introducing my specs. Say HI!

Oh yeah, thanks for the 24 - Season 5, Keith. The series was really awesome.
